Reduce disposable items in restaurants

Assosistema has launched an interesting campaign aimed at promoting the use of non- disposable restaurant linens and reducing their environmental impact through reuse.

The communication project is aimed at Italian companies operating in the restaurant industry, and the campaign has been titled " At the Table, Reduce Disposables. Choose Reusable Textiles ."

Since our industrial laundry is strongly committed to eco-sustainability, we are happy to highlight this initiative to raise awareness in the restaurant industry.

In particular, the campaign raises awareness of the excessive environmental impact of disposable paper tablecloths , but not only that.

Not just environmental impact

The hygiene of reusable fabric tablecloths is decidedly superior, because industrially washed tablecloths and napkins follow a rigorous washing, sterilization and bagging process that preserves the table linen from contamination by dirt and bacteria.

The sustainability of textile tablecloths is also amplified by two environmental certifications , (14001 for environmental management and 14056 for the control of biocontamination) which seal compliance with correct environmental practices and the final hygiene of the textiles.

The actual saving of resources

Data collected by Life Cycle demonstrates that one square meter of textile tablecloth rented from an industrial laundry and reused contributes to:

  • 53% reduction in global warming impact of restaurant linens

  • 27% reduction in ozone layer depletion

  • 50% reduction in smog impact

  • 92% reduction in waste generation (including processing waste generated for example for the production of disposable paper tablecloths)

Given these data, linen rental becomes the most sustainable solution for the restaurant.
