Assosistema and Assofornitori will hold a conference together on May 12th in Mugello. They are united in the process of revitalizing the entire linen sanitization supply chain in hotels, restaurants, and spas. A year ago, the two associations established a top-level task force with the specific aim of analyzing the market changes following the economic crisis that has affected the sector. The analysis has provided a new market picture, with the tourism hospitality sector experiencing a shift in consumption patterns, to which companies in the sector intend to respond promptly.

The aim of the conference is to promote the use of textiles given their important economic, employment, and environmental implications.

Therefore, based on the sentiment of their members, they deemed it necessary to conduct an in-depth scientific analysis to support the two associations in defining standards. These are the motivations behind the survey commissioned by ISNART, conducted on a sample of 1,500 hotels and 1,000 restaurants, assisted living facilities, and tourist villages regarding the use of sanitization services. The sample, consisting exclusively of "Ospitalità Italiana"-certified hotels and restaurants, allowed for a precise understanding of the central role of sanitization services outsourced by tourism businesses: outsourcing these activities is, in fact, a common practice among Italian hotel and restaurant businesses. Eighty percent of tourism businesses regularly use the service, and at the same time, there has been a 12.3% growth in hotel and restaurant businesses opting for the "buy" formula. Even 3-star hotels, which currently rely less on outsourcing services, are still reporting a growth in their use of sanitization companies (13.1% report an increase), more so than other hotel categories. This consolidated loyalty process is also evolving towards online service management, which is considered a tool for speeding up turnaround times and automation.

To continue raising awareness, authoritative representatives from institutions and industry stakeholders will participate. Drawing on the experience of the Mugello municipalities of Scarperia e Sanpiero and Borgo San Lorenzo, the environmental issues related to the expected growth of the hotel and restaurant sector in 2017 will be explored in a discussion between local administrators, business representatives (sanitization, hotel, and restaurant industries), and consumers. Specifically, the mayor of Scarperia e Sanpiero, Federico Ignesti, will share his administration's experience in introducing a 20% reduction in the Tari (Tax on Waste) tax for commercial establishments such as restaurants, trattorias, pizzerias, hotels with restaurants, and agritourism businesses. This demonstrates the complete reduction in the consumption of paper products in favor of reusable textiles for their businesses. This initiative earned a special mention for the creativity of the Use and Reuse Project at the ANCI Toscana Good Practices competition on March 3, 2017.

The following day, doors opened at Chi-Ma Florence, one of the best-known and most esteemed companies in Mugello, located between the municipalities of Scarperia and Borgo San Lorenzo.
